There is so much to celebrate about Kirsty’s life and achievements.  While many in the drug industry would be aware of her towering presence as an early career professional leading an innovative drug development company, many more may not be quite so aware of all the other things that Kirsty was doing even as she established and raised funding for MetalloBio.

She was a talented footballer and hockey player.  She turned around the fortunes of the then ailing AFC Norton Woodseats Women’s football team, securing sponsorship for new kit and training equipment, as well as captaining the squad.  In her very typical way she led by example and was utterly modest about the club’s success that was due in large part to her efforts.

Kirsty was highly socially conscious and raised funds for food banks across Sheffield.  Even as she struggled with her own health she became a Lead Ambassador for Sarcoma UK, a charity that supports patients with this disease and their families, and provided online support through a dedicated Facebook page that she set up.

MetalloBio is built in her image; the company’s values reflect those of Kirsty’s.  The legacy she has left is massive. It is our duty to take that forward and deliver it.  Every day, in all our dealings, the MetalloBio team remembers Kirsty, what she stood for, and how important it is that her breakthrough science, developed with Professor Jim Thomas, is given every chance to be the basis of future life-saving treatments.

We remember Kirsty with pride and deep affection.
